Skye-based artist Lynne Forrester has always been inspired by beautiful things, and places, especially those where she feels a connection to the character of a place, person or structure. Abstract art has always held an attraction for Lynne, and she feels that the abstracted style of her paintings is enriched by the addition of underlying texture.
Lynne creates her paintings by using roughly torn collage pieces as a base layer, followed by applying layers of acrylic paint using a palette knife. The combination of the collage and palette knife painting forms an imaginative extra-textured effect that draws the eye into all the nooks and crannies that the paint seems to have magically settled into.
After finishing each painting, Lynne writes creative blog posts. Some of these form in her head whilst she is working on the painting, but mostly they arrive out of her fingers onto the keyboard just as she is reflecting on the piece. Lynne usually derives the name of the painting from those posts.
The combinations of textured mediums and vibrant colours that Lynne uses to create her paintings fill her with joy - and hopes that they will make you feel joyful too!
